(July 7, 2007)

The launch of NASA's Dawn spacecraft, a mission that will explore the
two largest objects in the asteroid belt in an effort to answer
questions about the formation of our solar system, has been
rescheduled to September.

[NASA] TWO SUCCESSFUL SPACECRAFT GIVEN NEW ASSIGNMENTS (JULY 3, 2007)

Two NASA spacecraft now have new assignments after successfully
completing their missions. The duo will make new observations of comets
and characterize extrasolar planets. Stardust and Deep Impact will use
their flight-proven hardware to perform new, previously unplanned,
investigations.

NICOP PLANETARY PERMAFROST AND ASTROBIOLOGY CALL FOR PAPERS

Planetary Permafrost and Astrobiology will be a special session at the
Ninth International Conference On Permafrost (NICOP), on the campus
of the University of Alaska Fairbanks during the week of
June 29 - July 3, 2008. Fairbanks, Alaska. The session is being
organized by Francois Costard, David Gilichinsky, Nicolas Mangold, and
Chris McKay.

We encourage abstracts from the planetary science community studying
permafrost and icy surfaces throughout the Solar System and from the
astrobiology community interested in organisms living or preserved in
ice or permafrost.

The period for abstract submission is July 1 to September 1, 2007
To submit an abstract link on the conference website

FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE EXPLORATION OF PHOBOS AND DEIMOS

November 5-8, 2007
NASA Ames Conference Center, Moffett Field, California

The First International Conference on the Exploration of Phobos and
Deimos: The Science, Robotic Reconnaissance, and Human Exploration of
the Two Moons of Mars, to be held November 5-8, 2007, will be the first
international meeting focused specifically on Phobos and Deimos, and on
how their exploration relates to that of Mars and the solar system. The
conference will be an open international forum that gathers scientists,
engineers, space exploration professionals, and students interested in
discussing the status and advancement of the exploration of Mars'
satellites, and the exploration of Mars itself through them.
